301 student beds in a new building with ground floor commercial units on an underutilised site in the city centre. The completed development will provide living spaces with retail, restaurants and University services. The site will connect the high street with the university creating a pedestrian link and permeability through the built form.
The University is taking a lease on the entire building for student accommodation and teaching space and has been pre-sold to Legal and General Investment Management.
Works commenced on site in April 2018 and the building will be completed for the September 2019 term start date
blocwork secured planning and decontaminated the existing building on site prior to demolition. The site is incredibly close to the railway tracks and was a very complicated demolition project that required line closures to complete the works. The close working relationship between blocwork and Network Rail was essential due to the project challenges and tight delivery programme.
The site is being delivered by EBW Limited a partnership between bloc and Marcus Worthington Properties.
